Emeritus Professor Marea Nicholson AM has had a distinguished career spanning nearly 50 years, with significant contributions to education across Catholic, Government, and Independent sectors. Specialising in governance, special education, and child protection, she has played a key role at ACU since 1987, leading course design, program coordination, and professional development, and was appointed Emeritus Professor in 2019. Recognized for her vocational excellence by Rotary International in 2012 and honoured with the Order of Australia in 2020, Marea has also pioneered initiatives such as business incubators in Sydney. Her leadership extends to research projects focused on advancing education for marginalised communities and implementing vital child protection programs.
