Attendance Requirements

ISGL is committed to ensuring that all students actively engage with their learning and progress successfully through their course of study.

  • All students are expected to attend scheduled classes, workshops, and assessments in accordance with their enrolled mode of study.
  • Attendance is monitored to support student engagement, wellbeing, and academic success.
  • Students are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance as outlined in the Student Handbook and relevant academic policies.

For international students studying on a Student Visa, attendance requirements are also governed by the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act and related regulations.

Academic Progression

Academic progression requirements are defined in ISGL’s Student Academic Progression and Completion Policy

ISGL monitors student academic progress throughout each study period to ensure students are meeting course requirements and progressing appropriately toward course completion.

Academic progress is assessed based on:

  • Completion of required assessments
  • Achievement of satisfactory grades
  • Progression through the course structure within the expected timeframe

Students who experience academic difficulty may be identified as “at risk” and will be offered timely academic support and intervention.

Students at Risk

ISGL adopts a supportive, early-intervention approach to academic progression.
Where a student is identified as being at risk of unsatisfactory academic progress, ISGL may:

  • Notify the student in writing
  • Provide access to academic advice, learning support, or counselling services
  • Develop an intervention or academic support plan, where appropriate

The aim of these measures is to assist students to successfully continue and complete their studies.

International Students – Additional Obligations

International students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and attendance in accordance with their student visa conditions. Where an international student is assessed as having unsatisfactory course progress, ISGL will:

  • Notify the student formally
  • Provide an opportunity to access the complaints and appeals process
  • Comply with all reporting obligations under the ESOS Act, where required

Monitoring and Record Keeping

ISGL maintains accurate records of:

  • Student enrolment and progression
  • Attendance and assessment outcomes
  • Academic interventions and support actions

These records are used to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to support student success.

Complaints and Appeals

Students have the right to appeal decisions related to academic progression or attendance in accordance with ISGL’s Student Grievance and Mediation Policy and Procedures. Access to external review bodies, including the National Student Ombudsman, is available if internal processes do not resolve the matter.
